Field Tech and System Engineer - Part Time/ Contract Position

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Network Support/Field Technician with 1-3 years experience to support our Client's information technology infrastructures. The qualified candidate will be responsible for providing high quality support to users for network, and applications issues, as well as documenting and tracking support activities. Technical support includes Windows workstations hardware and software, access to network services, applications, gateways, remote access, viruses, and communication software. The ideal candidate will be a bright, dynamic, flexible, congenial, organized IT professional. You must be a good communicator who can explain complex technology in plain terms. This position has a lot of room for growth and advancement.

Job Description

  • Install and configure servers, desktops and laptops using various Windows operating systems
  • Design complex or non-routine solutions for Hardware and Software issues that arise (Troubleshooting)
  • Provide technical leadership role over designated network environments
  • Maintain Datix best practices
  • Research to stay abreast of current technology that will keep the our client’s networks operating efficiently and effectively
  • Upgrade Hardware
  • Setup Active Directory and Windows Domains
  • Configure Domain using Group Policy Editor
  • Design disaster recovery programs
  • General PC Support
  • Network installation and troubleshooting
  • Asset Management Software
  • Virtualization using Xen or VMWare
  • Additional duties as required


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or electronics technology or equivalent training
  • 1-3 years technical field experience
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Exchange, and Linux preferred
  • Experience with Windows 2003 Server required
  • Ability to design, develop and maintain SQL server databases
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Desire to be proactive, learn and improve
  • Ability to take a task from start to finish with planning, research, documentation & follow up
  • Ability to work on multiple problems/projects concurrently with minimal direction
  • Ability to handle the pressure of real time, critical support
  • Excellent organizational, troubleshooting and problem solving skills

The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently and conduct positive interactions with a wide range of users. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills are required. Must be motivated, detailed oriented, congenial, highly organized and have the ability to multi-task in an efficient manner.
